Funding for the Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Program (PRF) is provided by the United States Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Grant #: 90FR0031, and is administered in Connecticut by the CT Department of Social Services. PRF promotes responsible fatherhood through the Inside Out Dad program, Healthy Relationships (Couple’s Counseling Groups) and Economic Stability (“Money Matters” curriculum).

The Inside Out Dad Program helps incarcerated dads prepare for reentry into society as they learn more about themselves as men and as fathers.
Program Description
The Inside Out Dad Program provides practical and innovative ways to help overcome the physical and psychological challenges that incarcerated fathers face Inside (while incarcerated) and Out (re-entry).The curriculum bridges the gap between the inmate father and his children. Through the program, inmate dads deal with their pasts in order to discover their futures and the possibility that they can parent differently from their own, often absent, fathers. The Inside Out Dad mantra is: “Fatherhood is not about me…it is all about my kids!”Key Features
- 13 one-hour core sessions designed to address the specific needs of incarcerated fathers.
- Individual professional counseling addressing any issues connected to the family, parenting and fatherhood.
- Resources regarding Child Support, Advocacy, Visitation and Custody
- Contact between the inmate, family members, other social service agencies and legal professionals.
